CthughaFire Being Cthugha is the Fire-Being.[8] Cthugha is a representation of the fire element, and dwells in fire.[7] Cthugha appears as a great being hovering like a cloud of living fire.[2] One of the Evil Gods Cthugha is one of a group of evil god-beings referred to variously as the Great Old Ones (3) [1][3][6][8] or the Ancient Ones (2).[5][7][9] With them, Cthugha is involved in a plan to dominate earth.[9] However, Cthugha has his own body of worshippers.[1] Location of Exile Cthugha has been sleeping for eons at Fomalhaut.[1][2][3][6] Return When the Great Old Ones (3) aka Ancient Ones (2) return[1][5][6][7], Cthugha shall return from Fomalhaut [1][3][6] and shall lay His Hand upon all that oppose Him and destroy them.[6] Allies and Rivals Cthugha is allied with Hastur against Cthulhu and Ithaqua.[4] Upton Gardner speculated that Earth beings and Water beings must be opposed to Fire beings such as Cthugha.[2] Nyarlathotep fears only Cthugha.[2] In his draft for Cthulhu in the Necronomicon, Laban Shrewsbury proposed to let the minions of Cthugha destroy the hidden places within the earth where Nyarlathotep and Shub-Niggurath and their hideous offspring dwell.[1] Servant Races Cthugha's followers include the Flame Creatures, who have an eternal rivalry with the amorphous spawn of Nyarlathotep.[1] When Cthugha was summoned, his Flame Creatures also appeared.[2] Summoning Cthugha You can summon Cthugha by repeating these words three times, when Formalhaut is above the horizon: Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthugha Fomalhaut n’gha-ghaa naf’l thagn! Iä! Cthugha! Cthugha can arrive instantly, perhaps because thought is instant, and Cthugha's power of dematerialization and rematerialization is as swift as thought.[2] Blasting the Wood of N'gai Laird Dorgan and Jack (4) summoned Cthugha to blast the Wood of N'gai, the terrestrial abode of Nyarlathotep. They believed that Cthugha's earth-haven was forever rendered useless for him with its destruction by the minions of Cthugha, so that Nyarlathotep could no longer come from interstellar space.[2] Written References Cthugha is discussed in the Al Azif[6], also known as the Necronomicon.[9] Aka: Fire-Being. Compare with: Nemesis of Flame. 1. AWD Curwen. |
