Cthulhu in the Necronomicon

Laban Shrewsbury's second book, which he began dictating to Andrew Phelan shortly before they both disappeared in 1938. Phelan found it utterly incomprehensible, being a book written for savants by a savant, but with occasional strangely stirring passages. One passage speaks of the survival of extra-dimensional beings who inspired legends around the world, and suggests that we turn the servants of rival beings against each other. [AWD Curwen]

Abel Keane consulted a copy of the manuscript in the Miskatonic University Library. He found it filled with learned and scholarly paragraphs concerning the lore of the Arab, Abdul Alhazred, as well as a reference to a star in the Hyades that must be Celaeno. There was also a quotation from the R'lyeh Text, prophecying the return of Cthulhu, Hastur, Nyarlathotep, and Shub-Niggurath. [AWD Sky]
