Amulets of Yamil Zacra

[CAS Infernal]: Amulets from the planet Pnidleethon, which circles around the evil star Yamil Zacra and its dark companion, Yuzh. These amulets are dispersed through other star systems and serve to waken those beings who have been most strongly infused with fiery monads from the rays of Yamil Zacra. The amulets also aid such beings to ascend to Pnidleethon and assume their full powers.

Five such amulets were brought to Earth in elder times. Three earth men, whose names are lost, were transported formerly from Earth. The Testaments of Carnamagos prophecied that another man would be transported during the present cycle of terrene time. This prophecy came true when Oliver Woadley came into possession of the fourth amulet. Though Nong Thun attempted to steal the amulet, he failed and was killed by Woadley. The fifth and last amulet slumbers beneath the South Pacific in drowned Moaria. According to the Testaments, the fifth transportion will not occur till Zothique, the last continent of earth, has risen and all other continents have sunk.

The amulets are circular disks of black stone, small enough to fit in the palm, but twice the weight of lead. Both sides are carved with a profile of a creature with a long curved beak, a flabby, frog-like lower lip, and a round, bulging eye that appears to revolve when exposed to any change in lighting. The head is surmounted by a series of bulges, each of which has a vertical spike. The figure seems to writhe in malign fury.

Avalzant, the Warden of the Fiery Change, assists the transportation to Pnidleethon of those candidates who have been chosen by the amulets. To ascend to Yamil Zacra, the candidate must remove all his clothing, and allow Avalzant to pierce his chest with a spear. Then the candidate must hold the amulet to the wound so it can absorb the blood vampirically.

After arriving on Pnidleethon, the candidate must undergo tremendous ordeals, involving the gradual ascent of a terrible terraced mountain protected by many fearsome guardians. Then he must submit to Gardeners who would graft him onto certain monstrous plants, before undergoing further transmigrations so as to experience every order of life. Finally at the summit of the mountain he must vanquish the final, invisible guardian named Vermazbor.
